As the cold winter months approach, you may be frustrated to know that defrosting your windscreen could land you a fine.
Over the past few days there has been heavy frost across the UK which has lead to many car windscreens becoming icy.
Drivers woke up this morning to frozen cars, leading to a frantic dash to get get the ice off before travelling to work.
Not only could the mad dash to get the ice off your screen damage it, you could also be breaking the law in the process, reports Chronicle Live.
One motorist was fined £30 on their driveway while defrosting their car, reported Chronicle Live, because he left the vehicle unattended with the engine running.
Police officers have warned that it is an offence to leave a car unattended with the engine running on the public highway.
Rule 123 in the Highway code states that “You MUST NOT leave a parked vehicle unattended with the engine running or leave a vehicle engine running unnecessarily while that vehicle is stationary on a public road.”
