A huge number of faulty cars are being driven on the UK’s roads, with owners ignoring the problem, according to Green Flag.
New research from the breakdown cover provider says up to 21 million cars on British roads are faulty, and drivers who delay putting them right are ending up being hit in the pocket, reports Birmingham Live.
The research was revealed this week and says that drivers are spending an average of £574 per year to fix their cars. This adds up to £21.5 billion a year in total.
The study also shows that 47% of repairs would have been cheaper if the issue had been addressed sooner.
According to those surveyed, drivers have an inbuilt “fault filter” – where they stop noticing their car’s issue, thus delaying repair.
