Without doubt, one of the most common questions we are asked by our new learner drivers is “how many driving lessons will I need before i’m ready for my test?” The truth is that this is a very difficult question to answer because everyone is different and therefore learns at a different pace.

We understand that learning to drive can be expensive and therefore it is only natural to want to limit the expenditure by passing the test after completing the fewest possible number of lesson.

Early Test Submission

You can be certain with Surrey Driving Force that we will always recommend submitting driving lessons eghamyour driving test application the moment that we believe that you are ready and we will never compromise our policy to ensure that our learners never take any unnecessary lessons.

We want you to pass your test as soon as possible, but we will never take short cuts which may hinder your chances for the best possible chance of success. This might mean you taking more lessons that a friend did, or learning faster that a family member. Every learner is different and a good driving instructor will know exactly how to treat each individual.

Choosing the Right Driving School

It is not possible to over-estimate the importance of choosing the right driving school if you want to prepare for your test at the earliest possible opportunity.

By putting your trust in the right school and the right instructor, you will give yourself the perfect chance to maximise your learning speed. Your instructor should be someone that is calm and patient no matter what mistake you make and you should always feel comfortable alongside them. With guidance of a good instructor and the willingness to learn, you may find that the amount of driving lessons you need, is not as many as you first thought.

Take an Assessment Lesson

There is a method of gaining an insight into how many lessons that you may need and that is to undertake an assessment lesson, which will allow an instructor to gather an accurate indication of the level of your current driving ability. This will then allow them to provide an estimate of how many hours of driving they think you need before taking the driving test.

It must be remember though that this is nothing more than an estimate (an educated guess really) and it may ultimately lead to you taking a few lessons more or less than suggested depending on the speed of your progression.
